Directed Calling / Remote POTS Access
Directed Calling / Remote POTS Access is an optional premium PhoneGnome feature. This feature is currently in beta test.

This feature enables remote access to your POTS phone service (the telephone service connected to the PhoneGnome box LINE port). A user with the PhoneGnome box can grant access to other PhoneGnome accounts. Such an authorized user can then use their PhoneGnome account to direct a call to a specific POTS telephone service.

Authorizing Access To Your Phonegnome Box Pots Line

Navigate to: Features / Directed Calling / Remote POTS Access / Activate to activate the service.

Once activated, Navigate to: Features / Directed Calling / Remote POTS Access / Manage and then click the [Add Member] link under the 'PhoneGnome Users Permitted To Use Your Phone Line' section.

Enter the PhoneGnome number of the account that you wish to allow.

Removing Access To Your Phonegnome Box Pots Line

Navigate to Features / Directed Calling / Remote POTS Access / Manage

Under Actions on the list of users permitted to use your phone line, click the delete icon (trash can) for the user you wish to disallow.

Click 'Delete' on the confirmation screen and that PhoneGnome account will no longer have access to your POTS line.

Directing Calls To A Specific Phonegnome Box Pots Line

Navigate to Features / Directed Calling / Remote POTS Access / Manage

A list of phone lines for which you are authorized to place calls will be displayed. For each phone line, a prefix will be displayed. To direct a call to a specific telephone line, dial the prefix for that line. You may dial the prefix alone (or click the link displayed for the line on the page) and you will be prompted for a number to dial, oryou can dial directly by dialing the prefix followed by the number, such as **72018005551212.

Note: the number dialed with the Directed Call feature must be a number suitable to the POTS line service being called. The pattern is delivered to the POTS line exactly as dialed, without any processing by PhoneGnome. In other words, the number after the prefix should be in the same form if one were placing a call from any phone attached to that telephone line. For example, if directing a call to a PhoneGnome box connected to a number in Singapore, one could call a local user in Singapore by dialing a number such as 63387366 in all cases.

Advanced Use: Manging Access Numbers

You can limit the numbers allowable to a specific user. To do so, navigate to: Features / Directed Calling / Remote POTS Access / Manage

Click the edit icon under Actions. Add the numbers (or number patterns) that you wish to restrict the user to (by default user is permitted to dial any number).
