Your PhoneGnome phone number is the phone number you wish
to use with your PhoneGnome account.
This is one of the wonderful things about PhoneGnome: you
continue to use the phone numbers you already have; you don't need to learn
a new special PhoneGnome number -- just keep using the phone numbers
you already know!
If you have the PhoneGnome box (hardware) it is
the phone line you plugged into your PhoneGnome LINE jack.
Enter the number without the country code, and without any prefix or
punctuation (no spaces, hyphens, etc) For numbers outside the US/Canada
The My PhoneGnome site must be configured with the international form of
the number. Either enter the number, less the country code (no leading
zeros) or enter the full international number +number as one does when
placing a mobile call.
Specifically. you must consider how the number is called from
OUTSIDE your country. For example, if your country code is 44
and people call from FROM THE U.S. by dialing 011448444848908
then the number you must provide on the My PhoneGnome setup
is that number as dialed from the U.S., with the 01144 stripped off.
In this case, the telephone number used on the my.phonegnome.com site
would be all digits after 01144, or 8444848908 after selecting the
United Kingdom, from the pull-down list. You can also enter the
number as simply +448444848908.
This number is used to setup your PhoneGnome service and
ensures the PhoneGnome system adjusts for normal dialing in your
region (so in your country, you will dial as normal, the same way
as always). The "international" form of the number described
above applies only to when using the my.phonegnome.com site and
when setting up a PhoneGnome for internation use, not for when
dialing with the PhoneGnome connected phone or via your My PhoneGnome
account.
To verify that your PhoneGnome box has been associated with your phone
number, lift the receiver of your PhoneGnome phone and dial **3 to
hear your number repeated.
